Adding to the stamp collection


Today we will cover the country Sudan. I have added some stamps to my collection from this country by buying stamps at Tradera, an internet auction site.

I like to look at stamps, I see them as small pieces of art.

Sudan is a country south of Egypt, it is now the third largest country of Africa but used to be the largest before the split off with South Sudan in 2011.

It has around 50 million people. The capital is Khartoum.


There was slave trading in Sudan in the 1800:s with slaves sent to Egypt and the Ottoman empire.


Sudan was conquered by Egypt and after an uprising crushed by Egypt and British forces.


From 1899 it was shared by Egypt and United Kingdom but mostly govern as possessed by the UK until the year 1952.

In 1956 Sudan became an independant state.
